Annual Scientific Meeting

29th to 31st  March 2023

Invitation from Swati Jha

It is my great pleasure to invite you all to Sheffield for the 29th UKCS on the 29th to 31st March 2023.

Sheffield has long been known as the steel city but it is also the city of seven hills and in the very heart of the peak district. A city which played a key part in the industrial revolution but today is one of the greenest cities on the planet with the highest number of trees per capita in the whole of Europe.

The theme of next year’s event is “Medice Cura te Ipsum” which is Latin for “Physician Heal Thyself”.

March 2023 will be 3 years since the Covid pandemic struck and the face of healthcare changed beyond recognition. The impact Covid has had on us as physicians cannot be underestimated hence in keeping with the theme of the event one of the keynote speakers will be Caroline Elton renowned psychologist and author who will be speaking on "Putting Humanity into Healthcare".

The 2023 Conference will be an in-person event meaning that we can have some fun, with socialising being a key feature and an opportunity to exchange scientific ideas post Covid, while always being mindful to keep our delegates safe with a large venue.

The line-up includes remote and in-person invited speakers with opinion-leaders giving keynote lectures, oral and poster abstract presentations, satellite symposia, company zones and the popular pre-conference webinars and workshops.

The Conference will be hosted at the Cutlers’ Hall: a magnificent Grade 2 listed building, built in 1832 in the heart of the city. The Welcome Reception will take place at the wonderful Winter Gardens and the Gala Dinner at the beautiful Sheffield Cathedral. Each of these is within a minute’s walk of the other and of the station. Aside from having a great time we are mindful of keeping all our delegates safe and we will be following the guidance throughout.

The Sheffield team very much looks forward to welcoming you to UKCS 2023 and I promise you all it will be an event to remember. So please, put the dates in your diary and we will be bringing you updates over the coming months.
